Greenhouse trekking

Great weekend jaunt with my botany inclined daughter a little bit ago. She took me to see the Green Valley Nursery in Hawthorne, NY, a beautiful nursery with a family farm feel to it, I love places like this that have real heart and soul. I love greenhouses, like a mini trip to the Botanical gardens. I was also wanting someone's very nice jeep parked out front. There was an older gentleman sitting in a golf cart who was a family member and gave me great advice about planting. There was a really cute family dog and of course, the greenhouse cats, cannot be a proper greenhouse without greenhouse cats. ALso liked the other members of their menagerie. We bought some lavender for the rock garden and a wee stone owl to guard the flowers in the front yard. Flowers, leaves, the smell of dirt, of distilled sun through the greenhouse glass, what could be more lovely on a weekend afternoon?

Spammed

Have to figure out how to put up the annoying captcha thing...being attacked by spam and accidentally wiped out some good stuff trying to clean it up. What purpose does spam serve anyway? Really would like to know.

The Fruit and Vegetable Market

A recent discovery of a great market, Rancho Grande, near my job packed with fruits and vegetables at extremely reasonable prices, as well as some unique market finds there and a great meat/cold cuts section as well. Hello Cobb Salad all summer. Add to that two farmer's markets in full swing on Fridays and Saturdays, I am summer happy with healthy choices. Now I just need to find a recipe on how to cook these gorgeous cranberry beans.

Didn't get a pony for his birthday

but had a swell one anyway. Not that he even wanted a pony, the newly minted 14 year old. Although I might. Hard to believe my youngest is now 14. Grateful the rain held off, a good time held by all, and as thunder rolls overheads, time to turn this puppy off.

Confirmation Day

Here are some proud Mamas and Papas hanging with their spring fresh young. My youngest is getting confirmed today, he looks quite the man in his suit. Time really does fly. Before I break into Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof, I need to figure out what shoes I am wearing to the event.

Although I think it has now become more of a neighbor thing as they seem to really like the wooded area way back behind the house. There were three of them this time but my camera and I were not quick enough.
