On a recent walk I noticed the big orange X on an old tree indicating its days are numbered...struck by the personality of the tree, I came back the next day with camera and captured a few views for posterity.

I love this tree. I always feel my heart break a little any time a tree is cut down. It really upsets me as there is so much energy and wisdom and beauty in trees. There is a stunning tree right at an exit on the hutch at the Purchase exit that makes my heart flutter every time I see it.
I know, I have had a real kinship with certain trees in my life. When a favorite was blown down in a storm when we were first married, my husband and I really mourned its loss. Was nice to know he was a kindred tree spirit guy as well...
