mysterious paper sculptures in Scotland, Electric Edens, and more...

Someone has been leaving paper sculptures in the library and such in Edinburgh. I love the mystery as much as I love the art. Read the book, like the blog. A great fan of Sandy Denny (her song here always heals my heart), Fairport Convention, The Incredible String Band, Nick Drake, Pentangle, all and more, Electric Eden documents this amazing time in the UK folk scene. Love this clip art site. And I love this site with its literary notecards (Alice in Wonderland lovers, look here). And back to Scotland - I so love this poem, Old Tongue, by Jackie Kay. I especially love that you can hear her read her poem.

Relieves fatigue, indeed! The "Cola" in "Coca Cola" refers to the kola nut, a source of both flavor and caffeine. The "Coca" refers to the coca leaf from South America. Ironically, they had to change the formula of "Coke" when cocaine became illegal.

Oh, those sculptures are brilliant works of art. Can you imagine? They are just wonderful. And I wouldn't want to know who did them, either.
I've bought Electric Eden based on the review in The New Yorker. I so look forward to reading it. A reviewer at amazon said he ended up buying lots of music because of it.

I'm back, having listened to Sandy Denny and Jackie Kay. Both so wonderful. You've made my day, Susan. I'll go look up JK, and am hoping she got back to Scotland. It sure sounds like she got those words back, doesn't it. An exquisite poem.
Looking at SD, it could have been me. My hair was just like that, sans bangs. Wild and long. Sometimes I feel sad for those times. I found a neat site you may already know -

Thanks! I agree with you, Nan, I feel I would have fit right in with the Sandy Dennyesque vibe back then. And yet all the sad and so tragically too soon deaths from drugs, etc., so heartbreaking, such losses.
I very much like the site of bright young folks, listening to one of their artists right now, thanks for the link.
