I want to think again of dangerous and noble things. I want to be light and frolicsome. I want to be improbable and beautiful and afraid of nothing as though I had wings.

Sunday Quote - in memory of Aunt Norayne
Those who wish to sing always find a song.
- Swedish Proverb
For our Aunt Norayne who brightened up our lives with her singing telephone calls, her affectionate interest in family, and her ability to live her life the way she wanted to and on her own terms.

Story time...
Pleased to see my story, The Lawn Chair, out today in the online journal,
Imitation Fruit. You can read it here -- and I hope you enjoy it. Warning - the layout is a bit wonky. Left to right then left again - like a book page, only then it jumps down and does it again. Think of it as an added challenging edge to the story :)

Christ, the Lord, is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

Lyn Lusi
Lyn Lusi, a remarkable woman, the founder of HEAL Africa, has died. I became aware of her awhile ago thanks to an Oprah show. Her work with African women who had been made to be outcasts of society because of fistulas (most of the time due to rape)was brave and inspired and important - but her attitude about how one person can affect change was moving. With her husband she also set up a training hospital in Goma (he sounds pretty amazing as well). The Economist ran a full page obituary on her which you can access here through the HEAL Africa site. I also like the PBS site's piece on her where she is quoted a good deal - and the same feisty, passionate woman I remember from that show shines through. My heart goes out to her family and all the people she helped. The world lost a truly good one.
